I first came to counselling work as a volunteer on a sexual assault crisis line in 2014 and have followed my interest in trauma recovery and anti-violence work ever since. I currently work in a domestic violence prevention program with people who have used violence and abuse with their partners and who want to make changes—as a result, I think a lot about how to cultivate healthy relationships and communication.
I am continually inspired by the healing capacity of the human spirit, relationships, and connection with the natural world. Prior to becoming a therapist I had the opportunity to explore holistic healing as a clinical herbalist at the Compassion Roots Wellness Centre, a non-profit clinic in Vancouver, and I continue to find great joy in the company of plants.
I aspire to centre social justice values in my life and am committed to my own journey of dismantling racist, cis-hetero-patriarchal norms within myself and in the world around me. I also recognize I hold a lot of privilege: I am a white, able-bodied, and cis-gendered woman with the ability to maintain my class status. Accordingly, I endeavor to humbly learn from my mistakes and fumbles. I prioritize open communication and processes of repair. At bottom, I strive to show up with care, reciprocity and responsibility in all my relationships.
I acknowledge with gratitude that I live and work on the homelands of the Quw’utsun people, who have stewarded their territories since time immemorial and have never given up their connection to each other and the land. As part of my journey to decolonize my own heart, mind, body and spirit, I work to help organize grassroots support for Indigenous led frontlines.
